Recently 4k image resolution has reached the homecinemas. Now we are in desperate need for animes featuring the 3840x2160 resolution to push the image quality bounderies to a new dimension. Please if image quality is a high good for you to tell the people out there that WE NEED 4k ANIMES!! :)
NOTE: To leave a comment in the forum you need to in case you already have an AniDB .

I heard that the Olymic Games in London are going to be filmed even with 16 MP cameras. At the IFA there was a 33 MP TV - so I think its the same was with Full HD. It just needs time to get "cheap" enough for the mass consumer market. All the new cinema movies are featuring 4k, we just damn need a medium for it .
You mean the movies or series should only be distributed on flash-memory sticks?
BDXL with 128GB are allready available, but I read a nice artical from Tohoku University about new violett ray laster and 1TB disks. But than we would have to name it VD not BD any longer *g*.
I'm wondering how 4k movies will fit on BD discs Will they make new type of disk or abandon optical disc technology at last? I would rather prefer movies on SD cards.
Don't know how to compare it. I "only" have an plasma HDTV.
For the movies I hope that Sony uses their influence to get 4k movies out to the market. A enhanced BD standard would nevertheless help .
Huh, what new gadget? I wonder what picture quality that projector has compared to LED HDTV... I never seen really good projectors in action (excluding those in cinemas of course)
Yes. The first native 4k projector for home cinema. And its picture is quite impressive .
Its a pity that ASS is handled novercally. It would really be a unique selling point for the whole anime community not willing to watch on PC or dealing with annoying sync-issues with the AV equipment. I thought Dune is involved with samsung smart TV and they will provide some new gadget very soon.
Whoa:nosebleed: that's very first 4k projector right? By "2160p stuff" you mean full feature movies or just some samples? I thought that Amazing Spiderman was to be first native 4k movie.
ASS is even worse on HDTVs, precisely there's no at all At least on Samsung Smart TVs. That's nice that I can play videos from usb flash drive but that "smart" tv s only srt&txt and displays them with his own almost-invisible font
But now a days ASS is wide spread and they really shoudn't be stuborn on this. They want to sell, but are not willing to adapt for more than the mass market... from money point of view I might accept that, but from customer point of view this is a declaration of bankruptcy.
Well, as i correctly, ASS was created by an individual person so vendors aren't interested in ing it. MKV also wasn't well ed for a long time. Btw what 4k projector you have?
I think the ASS in Dune HD is rudimentary.
The most unpleasant thing is that only one subtitle per timecode is shown and that is really a pain if signs or background songs are part of the ASS stream.
Karaoke effects or even 3d-rot-tags are not ed (as far as I experienced). ASS would really be a good point for improvment. I told the vendor allready several times, but as most of all business people they are sitting on their ears looking only at their purse.
I always wondered why ASS isn't well ed. I thought that txt and srt era has ed already
Just curious, Your Dune HD s karaoke effects and 3d-rotation tags in ASS subtitles?
I did that a long time - plugin my HDMI PC port to my AV receicer.
As you said there where issues with that. The only real advantage was a really good subtitle engine. I don't know a single SoC system which really ASS well - and that is a shame.
Yes. FLAC on 720p is bloated, but the word "lossless" works like a mot-fire on some people^^.
You can always plug HDTV to PC via HDMI but there's that desyc shit caused by refresh rate mismatch 10bit is as same nonsense as bloated FLAC in 720p files
H265 will need some more time to improve and mature.
And SoC vendors target the mass market of BD players which has no needs for 10bit . The price for feeling elite using 10bit encodes (from 8bit source) is watching anime only on PCs - even without any from the GPU. Hurrah to the common sense.
Just for some not recognizable image improvement to lose from all kinds of SoC systems for playback is just insane stupidity. A higher bitrate in 8bit encodes also omit 99% of any banding (spoken as former sub-encoder).

Yep, maybe some non-writable flash cards, only to read video file. I know, that's a distant vision
